The fifth month of the year is a really important one for the fans of the acclaimed intergalactic franchise Star Wars. The date we are referring to specifically is May 4th which resembles the famous Jedi phrase 'May the Force be with you'. And while every year many famous faces who appeared in the films join the celebration, this year an iconic Master Jedi has appeared on social media.
We are talking about Samuel L. Jackson, who portrayed General Mace Windu of the Jedi Order. The American actor shared on her Insta account a picture captioning it simply with “MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU‼️‼️ while wearing a black t-shirt and an image of his unique lightsaber, after all, you must know that Mace Windu had two special characteristics: He was powerful and had a purple lightsaber.
Samuel L. Jackson has had a lot of iconic roles in his lengthy career in big movies like 'Jurassic Park,' 'Django Unchained,' 'Pulp Fiction' or in the Marvel movies as Nick Fury but Star Wars fans will always remember him as de coolest Jedi with the most badass weapon in the galaxy. But did you know that there is a funny story about the chosen color? For decades fans where secure in the knowledge that there were only three colors for said weapon. Blue and green for the good guys, red for the bad ones. But then Jackson joined the franchise and all rules were adjusted (or broken, if we are honest here)
Years later he explained the situation during an appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show' revealing that, well, what Samuel L. Jackson wants, Samuel L. Jackson gets. "We had this big arena, this fight scene with all these Jedi and they’re fightin’ or whatever. And I was like, well s---, I wanna be able to find myself in this big ol’ scene. So I said to George, "You think maybe I can get a purple lightsaber?"
Of course, George Lucas explained that there was only blue and green but Samuel replied with the most accurate reason as to why he not only wanted but needed a purple lightsaber. "Yeah, but I want a purple one. I’m like the second baddest Jedi in the universe next to Yoda."
And as they say, ask and it will be granted, When Jackson came back to do reshoots George Lucas surprised the actor. , 'I want to show you something, this has already caused a s--- storm online.' And he had the purple lightsaber! And I was like yeah! And so I could find myself in that big fight scene. There's like 300 lightsabers, and I'm like, ‘There I am, right there.’"
And if you thought it could not be more unique, let us tell you something more. Jackson asked the Star Wars prop team to engrave the handle of Mace Windu’s lightsaber with 'BMF' making a reference te to the “Bad Motherf**ker” wallet Jackson carried in the movie Pulp Fiction. One of a kind!
