Which Actors Did Not Attend The 'Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts’

The 'Harry Potter': Return To Hogwarts' is finally out, making all the fans feel a lot of nostalgia while watching their magical stars recall some of the most magical moments in the saga, however, there are certain actors who are noticeable absent from the reunion.

Take a look at the actors who did attend the 'Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts’ (We are not adding the beloved, late actors)

Michael Gambon – Albus Dumbledore

While it is true that he was the second actor to portray the headmaster after Richard Harris died, Michael Gambon portrayed Albus Dumbledore for most of the films. A reason as to why he did not attend was not revealed.

Maggie Smith -Minerva McGonagall

The right hand of Albus Dumbledore, at least when referring to Hogwarts, was Minerva McGonagall who was portrayed by the legendary Maggie Smith. She did not attend the reunion and no reasons were given. However, she has declared in the past that she would not call it a satisfying experience when working in the franchise.

“I am deeply grateful for the work in ‘Potter’ ...but it wasn’t what you’d call satisfying. I didn’t really feel I was acting in those things,” Smith revealed to the Evening Standard.

Julie Walters – Molly Weasley

Molly Weasley, the matriarch of the Weasley family did not grace the reunion despite most of her onscreen kids and husband attended. While no reason was given, the actress revealed in previous years that she was retiring from acting after she was diagnosed with stage-three bowel cancer.

David Thewlis – Remus J. Lupin

David Thewlis portrayed one of the four marauders, Remus Lupin. A reason was not given but David Thewlis is set to appear in the second installment of Enola Holmes, which is currently being filmed, The Amazing Maurice which is in production, and Avatar 3 which is in post-production. Certainly, the actor has a busy schedule, although fans are commenting all over his social media that they missed him at the reunion.

Natalia Tena - Nymphadora Tonks

You might remember Natalia Tena as Osha in Game of Thrones, but she also appeared as the most famous (and only) metamorphmagus in the series Nymphadora Tonks. She was Moody's apprentice and later became Lupin's wife. She and Lupin died in the last movie but left a little kid alive, Teddy, who went to become Harry's godson. Not much has been known about Natalia Tena, but she did not attend the reunion either.

Jim Broadbent - Horace Slughorn

Although he only appeared in two movies he received mixed feelings as Horace Slughorn. Sometimes hated for being a snob and others loved because he fought in the final battle, Jim Broadbent certainly did a magnificent job as the potions master. It was not revealed wh he did not attend the Harry Potter reunion but he is currently filming 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry' which makes it possible that his schedule did not allow him to attend.

Kenneth Branagh – Gilderoy Lockhart

Probably because he is now focused on being a director, or because he only appeared in one film, or maybe because he is busy promoting 'Belfast' and working on the upcoming 'Death on The Nile' but Kenneth Branagh did not attend the Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts reunion. Branagh portrayed Gilderoy Lockhart, an 'adventurous professor' who in reality was a complete fake.

Harry Melling – Dudley Dursley

Harry Melling the insufferable and spoiled Dudley Dursley. He did not attend the reunion and no reason was given, however, he has declared in the past that he wanted to leave Dudley in the past where it belonged. "I think I was very lucky that I was allowed to move away from Dudley," he said to EW. "When you start as a child actor, I think there are certain stigmas you get from that, and I never really wanted to engage in them. I just wanted to continue doing work."

Emma Thompson – Sybill Trelawney

The eccentric Professor Trelawney portrayed by Emma Thompson did not attend the 'Return to Hogwarts' reunion. In fact, she did not appear in the HBO special at all.

Brendan Gleeson - Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody

Brendan Gleeson portrayed Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody in the Globet of Fire, The Order of The Phoenix, and Deathly Hallows part 1. He is currently filming 'The Banshees of Inisherin'. In fact, his son Domhnall Gleeson who portrayed Bill Weasley did not attend either.
