The Grishaverse is not over yet, in fact, it is just beginning! If you got captivated by the fantasy series 'Shadow and Bone', you will be as glad as us to know that a second season has been announced with many more surprises, twisted plots, and the same beloved character.
Per Netflix’s self-reported numbers, more than 55 million member households watched the epic fantasy series in its first 28 days. Also, it is reported that Shadow and Bone made the streamer’s Top 10 list in 93 countries around the world and hit No. 1 in 79 countries. After all the success, the most obvious route to take is to have a sequel.
Executive producer and showrunner Eric Heisserer and the main cast, Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Ben Barnes (General Kirigan), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik) and Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar) are all set to return to the show. In case you are wondering, Milo the goat is returning too. “I’m honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo,” Heisserer said in a statement.
Leigh Bardugo is the author of the books and about the making of the sequel, she revealed that she es thrilled to keep the adventure going since she has been writing the Grishaverse for almost ten long years “There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand.” Bardugo said
In case you have not watched the series, let us tell you that you are missing one of the greatest shows of the season. The story follows Alina, played by Jessie Mei Li, an ordinary girl with an ordinary background story, but as time progresses, we find out that she is a key element in her kingdom since it is revealed that she is a sun summoner. A one of a kind person who can destroy the evil in the realm. She then moves on to meet her mentor, General Kirigan, played by Ben Barnes, but later we found out that in reality, well, he is not what he says he is.
We are not telling you what happens at the end of season one, but if we must, we might say it is a huge cliffhanger. In an interview with Variety, the director revealed that it was because he was daring Netflix to not renew the series. (What a bold move!) Not much, apart from the cast, has been confirmed, but in another interview, Heisserer gave us a little hint about what he wants to work with and what story he wants to follow.“It would be good to see if Wylan and Kaz already had a relationship and then maybe Weiland is responsible for something in Season 1,”
