The good news is that a sequel for the Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix is already in motion, the bad news, a date has not been revealed, the stranger update is that it is rumored that Lady Gaga will be portraying Harley Quinn, plus, it appears the sequel will be a musical.
Fans on social media are saying that April's Fool is no longer a thing, but according to many outlets Lady Gaga is set to portray the Joker's love interest Harleen Quinzel better known as Harley Quinn, a criminal psychologist turned criminal.

Lady Gaga has lately received a lot of recognition not only for her musical career but for her incursions into Hollywood. Her latest film 'House of Gucci' went on to receive several accolades while her first movie 'A Star Is Born' also earned a lot of awards and praise.
However, the rumor about the possibility of Lady Gaga portraying Harley Quinn in the sequel of Joker alongside Joaquin Phoenix comes as a surprise because no one was truly expecting it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, nothing has been confirmed but Gaga is in early talks with director Todd Phillips.
The latest update shared by the director was thanks to a social media post where he revealed that the second installment will be titled 'Joker: Dolie a Deux' ( a medical term for an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more individuals, usually members of the same family.
The post also included a picture of Joaquin Phoenix reading the script, despite it has not been confirmed if he will be playing the role since he has declared in the past he is against sequels. The actor went on to win his first Oscar Award for Best Actor in 2020 for his role as Arthur Fleck and his alter ego in the first film, so it's now 50-50 chance.

For those fans worried about Margot Robbie who portrayed Harley Quinn first in the DC Universe, be assured that her storyline is in another universe of the comics but also the actress revealed in the past that she did not know if she would be returning to reprise the role.
