The ‘Harry Potter Reunion: Return to Hogwarts’ has been released and with it, we bet most of the fans have been tearing a little bit remembering their childhood, laughing at some of the never-before-told tales, and just feeling a little bit nostalgic.

However, it could be said that everyone needed some tissues when the 'Harry Potter' stars started remembering their late co-stars Alan Rickman, Helen McCrory, and many more.

Some of the Harry Potter stars who have died over the years include Alan Rickman who played Professor Severus Snape, Helen McCrory who played Draco Malfoy's mom Narcissa Malfoy, and Richard Harris, who portrayed Albus Dumbledore in the first and second installment of the franchise.

"It's obviously amazing to be back, but it's so shocking that so many people that we thought would be around for much longer than they have been aren't here," said Emma Watson who portrayed Hermione Granger.

"They're like family," agrees Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley. "You grieve in the same way."

Alan Rickman died back in January 2016 due to cancer, and when mentioning him, to say everyone got emotional would be the understatement of the year. "Alan Rickman never talked to me like I was a child," Emma Watson recalled "He always took my thoughts and opinions very seriously, which I was always very touched by."

"Alan was a very dear friend," recalls Ralph Fiennes a.k.a Lord Voldemort himself. It was quite funny to hear what he had to say about Alan Rickman because Ralph was the evilest character and yet, in real life, he was intimidated by Rickman.

Warner Bros.

"I was a little intimidated by him. His precision, his expert delivery of lines. We sort of went toe-to-toe in a funny way, with Snape and Voldemort. Two actors can relish metaphorically fencing with one another like that. Alan was a magician in that way, as an actor."

When talking about Richard Harris, who died back in 2002, Emma Watson remembered him as a special and warm person. "He was so twinkly."

Warner Bros

"Richard was classic, probably one of the funniest men I've ever met," says director Chris Columbus, who directed Harris in the first two Potter films. "He was this devilish 11-year-old trapped in a 70-plus-year-old man's body," Columbus adds of Harris. "He just had that glint in his eye, which made him the perfect Dumbledore."

When it was the turn to remember Helen McCrory who died in 2021 after battling cancer, Tom Felton and Jason Isaacs, who played Draco and Lucius Malfoy (son and husband of her character, Narcissa) they could not contain their tears.

Warner Bros

"She taught me a lot," Felton said. "She had this ability to show such empathy in her eyes. It was a real treat to work with her." he added, while Jason revealed the first impression he got of her "I said, 'I think I've just met the best actress I've ever seen in my life.'" adding that he felt lucky to have worked with her" and shared so much frankly adolescent laughter with her on the set."

Another Harry Potter star who died was Richard Griffiths, who starred as Vernon Dursley, Harry's uncle. Despite his on-screen character was despicable, Daniel Radcliffe admitted that in real life he was the opposite.

"His passing was the one that affected me most," Radcliffe admits. "He was just so generous with his knowledge, wanted to share everything with you."
