We will finally get to see Dwayne Johnson as a superhero very soon! The American actor has announced on his social media where more than 254 million fans follow him that DC's 'Black Adam' has officially wrapped. “I knew many years ago, the opportunity for me to make BLACK ADAM would be a ONCE IN A CAREER EVENT,” The Rock wrote on Instagram. “It has been my true honor to go shoulder to shoulder with over 1,000 brilliant and hungry crew of filmmakers and storytellers to bring the antihero known as, BLACK ADAM to life.”
Something you should know about 'Black Adam' is that yes, it is a superhero film but it is also a spin-off of another movie, 2019s Shazam!. Black Adam, a.k.a Teth-Adam has been a hero and a villain in the comics so surely we will see him as an anti-hero. “This has been one for the ages and easily the hardest labor and toughest grind mentally and physically of my entire career,” he added. “Worth. Every. Second.” The film has an incredible cast including Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan. Black Adam is directed by Jaume-Collet Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. In addition to starring as Black Adam, Johnson is also serving as a producer on the project.
We can say that 'Black Adam' has been one of the most expected DC movies so far since it goes back as far as 2014 when it was first announced that Dwayne Johnson was the one portraying the character. Then it was announced that the movie was going to be released in 2021 but pandemics happened and like many movies, it was delayed. In fact, The Rock was scheduled to appear in the first 'Shazam!' movie as the villain but later on, Warner Bros decided to do a standalone movie. Johnson announced the film’s new July 2022 date in March in a short ad before the NCAA’s tournament game between UCLA and the University of Alabama.
Also, Dwayne Johnson has been gifting us recently with some sneak peeks and snaps of the movie. Some days ago he also shared a picture where we can see him from behind it what looks like, the costume of Black Adam. This image of Black Adam from behind gives you a tactile sense of the absolutely massive scale and size of our movie. You also see a little of the intricate and beautiful textured detail of Black Adam’s bodysuit. (this is not your typical DC or Marvel padded muscle suit) And finally, you get a glimpse of the enormous and appropriate destruction.” Johnson said in the post.
