Who has not watched 'Armageddon' and instantly started singing 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' by Aerosmith? This movie, which is now considered a cult movie because of its plot and science fiction, is now being a trending topic after Ben Affleck revealed some truths about his character.
Starred by many famous faces like Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, Steve Buscemi, Owen Wilson and even Jason Isaacs from the Harry Potter films, the cast of the film is a superb thing from every single angle.
The film was premiered back in 1998 and, probably because it was Bruce Willis, or probably because of the fear of the new millennium, but as cheesy as the movie was, it was quite successful and gathered a lot of fans, even until these days. However, not everything was as good as it sounds because it has been revealed that Ben Affleck was told to fix his teeth and get sexy for Armageddon.
Nowadays, he might be considered a sexy man, even more now that he is dating Jennifer Lopez again, but back in the day, according to the actor, Michael Bay asked for some requirements, apart from his talent: the director asked Ben Affleck to fix his teeth and be 'sexy'.
"They made me fix my teeth and work out and be sexy. Be sexy, how do I do that?" Ben Affleck said to Matt Damon in a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly.
"'Go to the gym!' Running in the gym and putting oil on my body and stuff," he continued. "It just turned out to be a long-form version of one of those male topless calendars, in a garage, carrying a tire, kind of greased up."
In the film, Ben Affleck plays A.J. Frost an oil driller part of a team recruited by NASA to help them stop an asteroid from destroying Earth. "Michael had a vision of a glistening male torso in the oil, and he was like, ‘That's going to go in the trailer and sell tickets!' And you know, what can you say?" Ben continued. "We could have made, I think, 400 Chasing Amys for what we made Armageddon for."
No matter the struggles he had, Ben Affleck is quite proud and also admits that Armageddon is the only movie his kids have watched. "It's funny because that's the one movie of mine that my kids have watched and they'll kind of all admit to liking," the actor, who shares three kids with ex Jennifer Garner, admitted. "Even though they relentlessly mock it and me. ‘What are you, driving a tank on the moon?' But they had fun, you know what I mean? They won't even watch The Town. So, there you have it."
