There is no doubt that not only Bridgerton was a big Netflix success but 'The Queen's Gambit' too. The story where we get to see Beth Harmon since she was a child, how she faced living as an orphan since young, and then how she grew up to become a master in chess.
The one to portray such an interesting character was Anya Taylor-Joy who before becoming a mastermind in planning schemes on the board, starred in films like 'The Witch,' 'Split,' and 'Emma.' The American-Argentine-British actress earned some awards thanks to 'The Queen's Gambit' being the most important one the Golden Globe that landed in her hands just for her performance.
After its big success and the series coming to an end after seven episodes, many have wondered if a second season was possible. The story is based on one of Walter Tevis's novels and the author did write a sequel but, well, when did that stopped creators to continue fictional works? Anyway, fans are expectant and hoping that Netflix renews the show for a second season, and about this, Anya Taylor-Joy spoke recently.
"It's so surreal and very wonderful that people want a second season because we never thought about it, there was no discussion about it," the actress revealed to Deadline in an interview. "That said, never say 'never' in Hollywood." Netflix announced that 'The Queen's Gambit' was seen by 62 million households over its first 28 days of release marking the series as one of the most successful so far so nobody really was unimpressed when fans started asking for a follow-up story.
She also noted that it will be interesting to see her character, Beth Harmon in a new facet. "It would be very interesting to see how Beth would be as a mother, now that she's sober and more cognizant of the demons that pull her down," she added.
Anya also revealed that she adores her character and would certainly come back if they asked her to. "I do think we leave Beth in a good place. I think the rest of her life will surely be an adventure as well, but in the quest that she goes on in this to find some form of peace, just some form of being able to be happy with who she is," the star added.
And as for the future of Beth Harmon, Taylor-Joy revealed that she hopes she starts doing things for her own pleasure “I would like Beth to take Benny and spend some time with him in Russia, just the two of them being snobbish intellectuals together."
