If you thought all the 'Meghan and Harry' business was cooling down after their interview with Oprah, Thomas Markle, father of the Duchess of Sussex appears and creates more speculation. Markle drove to Oprah's home in Montecito California and was photographed handing a security guard a personal note offering himself up for an exclusive interview.
Thomas lives in Rosarito Mexico but drove to California to personally deliver the note. “The note wasn't for Meghan or Harry.” Apparently, Markle wants Oprah to reach to him, allowing the opportunity to tell his side of the story. Last month, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry long and extended, approaching topics like the royal family, their royal duties, racism, suicidal attempts, and the stranged relationship between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle.
Meghan Markle and her father have been estranged for some time. Not only did he miss her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, but he has also gone to the tabloids with their family drama. In Oprah's interview, Meghan spoke about how she felt betrayed by his father, who leaked a private letter she wrote to him. Excerpts of the letter were published without her knowledge or consent, As a result, Prince Harry and Meghan sued The Daily Mail for misuse of private information, infringement of copyright, and breach of the Data Protection Act 2018. They recently won the lawsuit.
Meghan's dad also is guilty of posing for paparazzi photos ahead of her wedding day helping the tabloids to create content. Meghan also declared that she looked at her son Archie and “ genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child.”
Meghan added she had struggled with mental health issues during her time in the United Kingdom and had had suicidal thoughts. After days Oprah's interview was released, Thomas appeared on Good Morning Britain and explained that Meghan has ghosted all her family. “she really had no one to reach out to. She would've had us if she'd kept us.”
Despite everything, Thomas Markle declared he misses Meghan but made certain comments that leave us thinking otherwise. "I'm going to defend myself," he said in the documentary (via Cosmopolitan). "And I'm going to be paid for it. I'm not going to refuse to get paid for it. I'll do future things and be paid for it, I think. I don't care. At this point, they owe me. The royals owe me. Harry owes me. Meghan owes me. What I have been through, I should be rewarded for." He added, "I miss her. I miss the way she was. I don't know who she is now, that's the problem."
