Dakota Fanning is joining the cast of Showtime anthology series 'The First Lady'. The last time we watched the actress on screen, was on the TNT series 'The Alienst', but her projects have been vast and wide including 'Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood,' 'War of the Worlds,' 'Uptown Girls,' 'Man on Fire,' the 'Twilight' films, and 'Please Stand By.'
A premiere date has not been released, but Fanning will appear in six episodes and will play Susan Elizabeth Ford, the only daughter, and youngest child of President Gerald Ford (Aaron Eckhart) and Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer). Ford married Betty Bloomer in 1948 and served as a member of the House of Representatives for 25 years, holding Michigan’s 5th Congressional District seat from 1949-73. He later became the only person to serve as both vice president and president of the United States without being elected to either office by the electoral college. As a teenager in the White House during the tumultuous mid-’70s, Susan Elizabeth Ford often introduced progressive ideas to the presidential family.
Dakota Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer are reuniting again in the acting scene. They co-starred in 2001 'I am Sam', back then, Fanning was seven years old and became the youngest nominee for a SAG Award. She won a Best Young Actor/Actress Critics Choice Award for I Am Sam well as for War of the Worlds.
