After the horrible tragedy that happened during the Astroworld Festival, Travis Scott is finally coming out of the short hiatus and has been now scheduled to play at the Billboard Music Awards.
Travis Scott has been nominated for top dance/electronic song for the remix of his hit single “Goosebumps” with Spanish producer HVM, and to mark this special occasion, it will also be the first time he performs after the Astroworld Festival where the tragic deaths of ten festival attendees happened.

The Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by Sean 'Diddy' Combs and alongside Scott, other musicians will perform such as Becky G, Ed Sheeran, Elle King, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Florence + the Machine, Maxwell, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Rauw Alejandro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Burna Boy, and Silk Sonic.
Mary J. Blige has been tapped to receive the Icon Award during the ceremony, while Mari Copeny will receive the third annual Changemaker Award.
While people on social media are calling out the show and slamming it for letting Travis Scott perform after the tragedy, Sean Diddy Combs shared a video on social media saying that he was the one to tell Scott he should play.
“This just in,” Diddy said in an Instagram video. “For the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday I made a request, I made a demand. I said ‘My brother Travis Scott has to perform. I’m executive producing, he has to perform,’ and NBC said ‘yes.’ It’s going down Sunday, Travis Scott will be performing… now that’s love.”
Later in an interview with Revolt Black News, he reiterated his message. “ I am uncanceling the canceled There will be no canceling on my watch,” Diddy said. “Love is about forgiveness… so that was why it was important for me to have Travis Scott perform. It’s going to be a great night.”
However, it should not be a surprise that Travis Scott is playing at the Awards since he became the first artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have three songs enter the chart at No. 1 in less than a year — “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts” (billed as by The Scotts, Travis Scott & Kid Cudi) and “Franchise.”
On a more personal level, while it is well known that Travis Scott was away from the spotlight after the Astroworld Festival, some fans allege that he was away because of the welcoming of her second child with Kylie Jenner. The baby was named Wolf but they later ditched it and until now a new name has not been revealed.
