Not many are the singers that inspire not only with their music but also with their fashion style. From Madonna and her famous white dress in 'Like a Virgin' to Eminem and his blonde hair, pop culture has a lot of key elements that when seeing them will make you think instantly of that famous celeb.

For very obvious reasons, Britney Spears is among the music stars that have been an inspiration, not only to fans but to past and present generations. Who does not remember the famous school uniform she wore in 'Baby Hit Me One More Time' or the flight attendant uniform that left nothing to the imagination in 'Toxic'.

However, it could be said that no other outfit has been more recreated over the years than the one Britney Spears wore in her music video 'Oops...I Did It Again'. In the improbable scenario you have never seen it, or do not remember it the Princess of Pop released this music video back in 2000 to promote her second album studio.

In the video, we can see Britney Spears wearing the iconic red latex catsuit, which has inspired many other celebs over the years to wear it at Halloween parties and even in their music videos with certain variations.

Anyway, about the red latex catsuit, Estee Stanley who was the video stylist talked in an interview with Vogue and while there revealed how come one of the most iconic outfits from the 2000s came to exist.

In Stanley's words, she dressed all the backup dancers in silver outfits and the famous astronaut suit. At some point we also see Britney wearing a white top and skirt, plus, a black skirt and a creamy top too. However, it is needless to say that the red latex jumpsuit was the one to mark the trend. “We wanted everything to be sexy and monochromatic,” Stanley said to the outlet.

However, it almost did not happen, because they could not settle on anything and had to turn to Michael Bush, the costume designer who was doing all of Spears’s custom tour looks at the time. “It was a last-minute thing to go to him and see if he could make something for us,” Stanley says. “In [the music] world, everybody has to do everything in two minutes, so we knew he could pull it off. And he did.”

Because we all know that back in the day Britney Spears was one of the most hard-working singers of her time, when the red latex catsuit was created, Stanley feared for Britney because Latex is a not so gentle fabric, and feared Britney would pass out. “If you put a latex outfit on, you’re immediately sweating, and I knew she was going to be dancing all day,” said Stanley. “I was nervous that she would pass out. After one take, I unzipped her, and it literally looked like a bucket of water poured out of this jumpsuit. She had a very intense day, to say the least.”
