We just can't deny that BTS is one of the best boy bands in the world right now. And guess what? We have proof of it. Composed by Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, the Gangtan boys have released their ninth English digital single (and the second full-English language song)
Funny enough, BTS broke a record set by BTS in the past. The Korean boy band broke their own record for most Youtube views in the first 24-hours of release with their new English-language single “Butter,” hitting approximately 113 million views by midnight, according to the platform’s public views counter. (At the moment, it has around 133 million views) However, the previous record was with their 2020s record 'Dynamite' with 101 million views in the first day but we have to add that BTS has broken several records like this one, for example, “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey in April 2019, hit 74.6 million views in its first day.
Just before its release, the boys revealed in a press conference in Seoul that they will perform 'Butter' at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on May 23, where they have received four nominations: Top Duo/Group, Top Social Artist (for the fifth year in a row), Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song (for “Dynamite”). Suga admitted Friday that “for every song, the first performance always makes you anxious" adding that “The Billboard Awards are of course a very significant, important, and meaningful stage for us,” he said. Jungkook also explained that the event will be a key one for the band.“The fact that we were nominated in four categories is not easy, of course. It’s a great honor,” he said. “It’s been a year since ‘Dynamite’ was released, and I think this shows that the song is still being loved by a lot of people, and that makes us really happy.”
Most recently, JM revealed to Billboard that while Dynamite was a disco-pop single, 'Butter' can be considered a summer anthem. (a much-needed breath of fresh air after a long winter stuck inside.) “It's very, kind of like seasoning. It's also a more upbeat, fresh dance-pop track, more like a summer anthem. Just all the positive vibes and upbeat energy. That's it. That's what 'Butter''s about."
The K-pop group also explained that they are more than honored to be nominated again for the Billboard Awards, however, all of them explained that their main goal is to get a Grammy Award and will do everything they can to make it happen. BTS earned their first Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their 2020 disco-pop track ‘Dynamite’, but had ultimately lost to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for their single ‘Rain On Me’.
