Those who have watched Anya Taylor-Joy in a movie would absolutely agree here that she is amazing in whatever she does. Whether it was in 'The Witch,' 'Emma' or the Netflix acclaimed series 'The Queen's Gambit,' we certainly are more than excited to see her upcoming projects.
In fact, the actress has a lot under her sleeve. For example, we have 'Last Night in Soho' where she stars alongside Thomasin McKenzie. The plot follows a fashion design student (McKenzie) who finds herself transported at night to 1960s London and into the body of an aspiring singer named Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy.)
Talking about her upcoming projects and revealing some bits of her personal life, more recently Anya Taylor-Joy was interviewed by Vogue Latam and there she detailed that acting has always been in her mind since she was a little kid. "Acting, as an actress, I think is something that I have always done in a natural way."
The 'Split' star also revealed that when she was in elementary school she confessed to a friend her dreams about becoming an actress and surprisingly enough, that friend always supported her. “She always supported me and told me that if I really wanted to do it, I would do it. He still sends me messages from time to time reminding me,” she jokes.
In case you do not know, Anya Taylor-Joy did not start as an actress, but as a model all thanks to Sarah Doukas who discovered her. Keeping in mind what we previously mentioned, Anya had her target clear and since day one she declared what her true intentions were. "From the first day I arrived at the modeling agency, I was clear: what I wanted was to be an actress ."
Stardom came thanks to her talent, but also thanks to Robert Eggers who cast her in 'The Witch.' In fact, the director and the actress are reuniting again for two upcoming films 'The Northman' and 'Nosferatu.' “I think one of the many reasons Anya is so magnetic on screen is her ability to embody paradoxes. It can be both earthy and ethereal, innocent and dangerous ” revealed, Eggers, according to the outlet.
'The Witch' was released in 2015 instantly becoming a favorite one for fans of the horror genre. However, it also became the best moment in Anya's life because, according to her, it was like finding her place in this world. “At many times in my life, unless I was with animals or reading, I had felt that it did not fit, but I hoped that there was someplace where I could contribute to something. My first day on set was like coming home. I remember thinking, 'I'm finally here, this is where I belong.'
Last Night in Soho had its world premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival and is scheduled to be released on October 2021 by Universal Pictures.
