One of the most successful Netflix shows everyone is talking about is Bridgerton and its main actor Regé-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings took everyone's breath away. Sadly, it has been announced via Lady Whistledown's Twitter that he will not appear on the second season and social media was flooded with tears (and even Kim Kardashian was unhappy.)
Here we will tell you more about Regé-Jean Page so you can fall (more) in love.
Who is Regé-Jean Page?
The actor was born in England but probably you already noticed this thanks to his accent. Even though he was born there he was raised in Zimbabwe, Africa. His father was an English preacher and his mom was a nurse from Zimbabwe and because of this, he traveled a lot when young for example to Sweden, Australia, and Grenada. "Home is a relative concept. Home is very much wherever it is that your people are and where you fit in,” he said
How do you pronounce his name?
Everyone has a hard time trying to decode the pronunciation behind his name but he mercifully tweeted about it. His tweet states that Regé is pronounced like reggae, Jean like Wyclef Jean, and Page is clarified with a book emoji.
Before an actor, he was in a Punk Band
Apparently, he is not only a rebel on screen. In his teenage years, Regé-Jean Page declared that the idea of running around, screaming at people was very appealing. “I found comfort in aggression, in breaking through false walls and challenging norms.” He was the lead singer of a punk rock band known as The Super Nashwan Kids but after some time he quit and followed his heart into acting.
Bridgerton is the biggest project he has been into as the main star, but did you know he was an extra in one of the Harry Potter movies? We can spot him in Deathly Hallows: Part 1. during Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's wedding scene where he's standing next to Hermione Granger and Mrs. Weasley as the Death Eaters crash the wedding. He also has starred in the 2018 action flick Mortal Engines and has been starred next to Tessa Thompson in Sylvie’s Love.
My name is Bond...
Regé-Jean Page is now included in the huge list of actors as possible options for playing the next James Bond. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he declared “The internet thinks a lot of things, and that’s one of the more pleasant ones."
The Duke of Hastings is no more. We are welcoming now a 'Dungeons & Dragons' character (a bigger project than Bridgerton). Page is set to star alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodrigues, as well as Justice Smith.
