Can we just take a moment to appreciate how cute this is? Travis Barker has revealed in a new interview that his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian is the one who encouraged him to fly again after.
Back in 2008, the American musician survived a plane crash back in 2008 leaving him with third-degree burns on 65% of his body. Obviously, this left him with a big trauma but now more than a decade Travis Barker decided it was time to face his demons.
Recently, in an interview with Nylon it was revealed that the hot couple flew from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, via Kylie Jenner's private jet marking his first flight "With you anything is possible," Barker captioned a photo of him lifting Kourt outside of the jet at the time. He told Nylon that the two-hour flight was "the easiest ever" and he felt "awesome" after.
Travis Barker also detailed that he had a plan with Kourtney, in order to overcome his fears. “I made a deal with her that she had just said to me, ‘I would love to do so much traveling with you. I want to go to Italy with you. I want to go to Cabo with you. I want to go to Paris with you. I want to go to Bora Bora with you.’ And I said, ‘Well when the day comes you want to fly, I'm telling you I'll do it with you. I would do anything with you. And just give me 24 hours’ notice.’ And that's what she did,” the blink-182 drummer told the outlet.
More recently, we have seen Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker showing some PDAs around Europe, more specifically in Italy and France. This meaning that they had to travel for long hours but it did not matter because Barker feels that he can do anything in the world. In June, before making the trips, he had contemplated the idea of once again taking to the skies by tweeting, "I might fly again." but it wasn't until months later that he decided to give it a go “It's still something very new to me, but having something that gives me the strength and hopes to be able to overcome things that were so traumatic in my life, it just says a ton,” he said. “She's definitely that for me. I'm invincible when I'm with her. It’s like I never dreamed, I never even considered flying again.
Barker’s 2008 flight from South Carolina ended in disaster when the plane caught fire, killing two pilots as well as Barker’s assistant and security guard. The drummer and his friend, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, survived but both men struggled in the wake of the accident, with Goldstein dying a year later from a drug overdose.
But Travis is not the only one who has been influenced by the relationship. Kourtney Kardashian's daughter Penelope was recently gifted a pink drum kit because she wanted to learn. "You can't be pushy, but you're like, 'Oh, do you want to learn to play something?' And she's always bright-eyed and like, 'Yes, like I'm so excited to learn how to play.' So she caught on really quick, like super quick," he said, adding that he's been giving her regular lessons. "Not weekly, like, 'OK, Penelope, we have to do lessons today,'" Barker shared. "But when she wants to learn then or learn something new, I like being there to fill that little space, that creative space in her head. I think next, she's just going to record something at the studio."
