What an awkward situation! Thomas Markle, who is the estranged father of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex has now declared that he wants to legally battle against her daughter and husband, Prince Harry over her right to see his grandchildren.
It looks like Mr. Markle really likes to put a fight against his daughter since it is not the first time he revealed he will take action against Meghan Just months ago when the Duchess talked to Oprah Winfrey in that revealing interview, Thomas Markle went to Winfrey's home in order to speak with her. Anyway, now he has declared that he will be doing something sooner than later. I will be petitioning the California courts for the rights to see my grandchildren in the very near future,” he said to Fox News. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have two kids, two-year-old Archie and baby Lilibet Diana.
Thomas Markle then went on sharing his hopes that Queen Elizabeth II does not 'punish' the kids for their parents' behavior. “Archie and Lili are small children. They’re not politics. They’re not pawns. They’re not part of the game. And they’re also royal and entitled to the same rights as any other royal.”
This isn’t the first time Thomas has spoken out about his grandchildren. Following Lili’s birth last month, he claimed he learned about her arrival in the media. I’m not a tearful type … but I’m certainly hurt by a lot of it. There’s a good chance I might never see my grandchildren,” he told 60 Minutes Australia in June. “No phone calls, I just heard it on the radio,” he said. “I haven’t spoken to Meghan since two days before they got married.”
During the tell-all with Oprah, Meghan Markle talked, among other things, about the stranged relationship she has with her father, “I grieve a lot. I mean, I’ve lost my father. I lost a baby,” Meghan said, referring to her past miscarriage. “I nearly lost my name. I mean, there’s the loss of identity. But I’m still standing, and my hope for people in the takeaway from this is to know that there’s another side.”
Let's just remember that Thomas Markle missed his daughter's nuptials after he was caught staging photos with the paparazzi. About this, Markle declared that she could not think how a parent should think of doing so much damage to their own kid. “I look at Archie, I think about this child, and I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child, I can’t imagine it, so it’s hard for me to reconcile that.”
“There was such an obsession about anything in my world, including tracking down my parents. And I did everything I could to protect both of them in that media frenzy,” Meghan said back in the day. “But for over a year, the U.K. tabloids were trying to find my dad, offering people so much money to try to find his address. Once they did, I remember being told, there was a huge headline, like, ‘We found him!’ or ‘We’ve got him!’”
