Even though several celebrities were among the ones casting a little bit of negative light on the happy news about Britney Spears and her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari getting engaged, Octavia Spencer's comments really resonated among the online community, setting the internet ablaze when she publicly said “Make him sign a prenup.”
True, there were a lot of fans agreeing to this, which also led to Sam address the incendiary chatter on his own social media. However, it seems that the 51-year-old actress is feeling remorse after the implications of her joke. Octavia Spencer decided not only to apologize in private to the soon-to-be-married couple, she also did it publicly.
The 'Thunder Force' star posted a gorgeous photo of Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, in which the actress expressed: “Y'all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I've reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.”
Spencer also placed a request to all the Britney fans out there – as well as anyone who may have participated in the prenup conversation- by saying: Britney's fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she's found happiness. We're thrilled for her. So let's show them love. #nonegativity.”
The comments section of the post was flooded with responses, in which people sent love to the couple. Not only that, but there was also an acknowledgment by one extremely buff Iranian personal trainer. Sam went on to accept the apology, and chimed in: “You are very kind to clarify but i have no hard feelings whatosever. Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory. No hard feelings. Love that!!”
It seems that Spencer may have felt bad for causing such a fuss on social media, it is safe to say that the 27-year-old didn't feel bothered at all by the joke. In fact, he hopped online to thank followers for the outpouring of love and support after his lady said yes, and he couldn't help but tease amid the controversy. “Thank you everyone is concerned about The prenup! Of course we're getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” said Asghari with the most incredible attitude.
Of course, the idea of a prenuptial agreement is not virgin territory for the lovebirds. Amid her conservatorship battle, and her high status as a celebrity, it's definitely a smart move to do. In fact, recently a source came out to tell People magazine that: “Britney is already working on a prenup. She understands that this is necessary.”
