Meghan Markle has been around for a while. First for her declarations against the Royal family, then, because she announced she was expecting her second child, and later because she published a children's book.
Anyway, after giving birth to sweet Lilibet, the Duchess of Sussex has been promoting her new book and has revealed some interesting facts about it. The book titled 'The Bench' was meant to be a celebration of the relationship between parents and kids so is no wonder that the inspiration behind the books was no other than Prince Harry and baby Archie, their firstborn.
On Sunday, Meghan Markle gave an interview to NPR Weekend Edition. This marks the first interview after the infamous one she and Harry had with Oprah. During the interview, she was accompanied by the book's illustrator Christian Robinson and revealed that on every page there are hints with hidden meanings for fans to find. "There are all those sorts of Easter eggs and nuggets tucked within the book," Meghan explained "There's a lot if people start digging."
However, the surprise came when Meghan revealed that a sweet tribute was for her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. "I think you can find sweet little moments that we hid in there, of my favorite flower, even my husband’s mom’s favorite flower, forget-me-nots," she explained. "We wanted to make sure those were included in there. There are many, many special details and love that went into this book." This isn't the first time Meghan paid tribute to Princess Diana with her favorite flower. Shortly after Archie's birth, the couple celebrated Mother's Day by sharing a photo of Meghan holding Archie over a field of forget-me-nots.
Meghan Markle also revealed a cryptic message, "I needed my girls in there," which she did not clarify, but probably she is referring to her mother Doria Ragland and her newborn Lili (For example n the final drawing, Meghan is seen carrying a baby surrounded by chickens and two dogs)In the interview, Meghan Markle also declared that for Father's day she gifted Prince Harry a significant item: a bench, just like the book's title, with a little extract. “This is your bench. Where life will begin/For you and our son/Our baby, our kin.”
"That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens” she said adding "My hope is that 'The Bench' resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.'"
While not much has been announced about the couple who is currently living in Montecito California, it is rumored that at least Harry is returning to the U.K to unveil Princess Diana's statue, which will be surrounded by her favorite flowers.
