Madonna's daughter, who is 25 years old, recently revealed in an Interview that she felt “so awkward” at the Met Gala, even though she has been the subject of high-caliber fashion endeavors, such as gracing the cover of Vogue magazine. Lola went on to reveal:
“Did I have fun at the Met Gala? I'm really grateful to have been able to go. Maybe because it was my first time, but it felt crazy.” At least that's what she told Debi Mazar in an interview, and she went on to explain further, “you're just shoved into a room with all these famous people and you're supposed to talk to them and be their friend, even though you don't f—king know them. That's not my vibe.”
ICYMI, Lourdes Leon flaunted her armpit hair on the red carpet in a sequined pink dress by Moschino's Jeremy Scott, added that she called her boyfriend in the middle of the whole ordeal. “I'm sure it's fun if you're someone who is friends with a lot of famous people, but I'm not.” And this is why she felt so awkward while she was at the Met Gala, “I didn't know who the f—k to talk to. I felt so awkward that I literally called my boyfriend in the middle of it.”
In the end, she said she had a lovely time during the dinner portion. Right after the whole red carpet thing. In fact, she said it was “fine”. As she explained, “I mean, I was sitting with Jeremy O. Harris, who I love, and Irina Shayk, who I love a lot. She's so funny.”
When it comes to fashion endeavors and the industry milestones, Lourdes has checked off some others besides scoring a Met Gala invite. One of them was when she made her catwalk debut at New York Fashion Week back in 2018; from that moment on, Lourdes has been walking runways ranging from Rihanna's Savage X Fenty show to the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week in September.
Also, Lourdes Leon has landed some ad campaigns, including some fashion gigs for such brands as Swarovski, Marc Jacobs and Parade x Juicy Couture. “I want to create a world in which moedls have more agency over what they're doing, and they're not just silent clothing racks,” said Leon, who also admitted that she likes “being very hands on with the campaigns” she poses for.
According to Lourdes, who certainly shaires a unique point of view in the same shape as her own generation, “that's the age that we're coming into in the fashion world: models as personalities and artists.”
Lourdes may be breaking into the fashion industry with revolutionary ideas aligned with her generation, but certainly what she can't do is break into her mother's closet. When Lola was asked whether she steals the 63-year-old “Material Girl” singer's clothes, Leon replied, “I do, but now there's a lock on her closets. When she's not in the house, those things are locked tight, because I take everything I feel I'm entitled to.”
