Sometimes, life is a bit ironic and you end where you started but improved. That's certainly what is happening to Lil Nas X who we bet, never thought of going back to the place where he got his first job as a teenager back in 2017.
You might be wondering why a two-time Grammy winner is going back to his first job at Taco Bell. No, he is not broke or something like that but, let's say that he is now the boss. The fast-food chain has honored the American rapper as its chief impact officer, (Something similar to what McDonald's has been doing with some artists like BTS) Taco Bell has also adopted "Live Nas" as a new spin on their motto.
"Lil Nas X knows the job, the experience, and the culture Taco Bell creates for its fans - including its people," Taco Bell CEO Mark King said in a statement. "This unique partnership will deliver on more than just marketing, allowing us to tap into the genius of Lil Nas X to inspire our team members and align with our commitment to unlocking opportunities for young people." Nas also gave the big news via Twitter, giving a bit of nostalgia in his message. “Life has come full circle, I officially work at Taco Bell again," Lil Nas is also partnering with the Taco Bell Foundation, announcing awards to the recipients of the Live Más scholarship. A total of $7 million was awarded to 725 students in 2021.
Ok, so, what does this mean? According to a press release, the Chief Impact Officer (Nas) and Taco Bell are teaming to offer an “exclusive experience” around the upcoming release of his album Montero “launching Taco Bell’s newest menu innovations, and most importantly, tapping into his history as a Taco Bell team member to help make the experience even more impactful. ” It is also noted that the Chief Impact Officer is a newly created honorary role that will allow Nas to collaborate on the brand experience from the inside out.”
The new breakfast items will include the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito, which comes with eggs, nacho cheese sauce, and sausage; the Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito, featuring a choice of bacon or sausage, eggs, three-cheese blend, and a hash brown; and the Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito, adding a double serving of scrambled eggs to the three-cheese blend, potato bites, pico de gallo and a choice of bacon or sausage. Jennifer Frommer, SVP Brand Partnerships & Commercial Sync at Columbia Records, also noted of the partnership, “Lil Nas X is one of the most important voices of this generation. His expertise in understanding social media and youth culture alongside his skills in creating great music makes this partnership with Taco Bell exciting, brave, and one of the most innovative campaigns I’ve had the pleasure of creating.”
