What an awkward situation! Kirsten Dunst has appeared in several films like 'Interview With The Vampire', 'Little Women', and even in Jumanji, most fans can coincide that she is well known for portraying Mary Jane Watson on the Spiderman Saga directed by Sam Reimi.

The films were more than successful, and nowadays they have transcended into the classic superhero movies, however, while everything looks magnificent on the outside it seems that on the inside things were not so good after all.

In a recent interview Kristen Dunst revealed that when working on the Spiderman saga, the pay gap was extreme between her and Tobey Maguire, who portrayed Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman. She acknowledges that she knows she is not the one who is a superhero, but, have you noticed that she appears in as many scenes as most of the villains?

"The pay disparity between me and Spider-Man was very extreme," she said. "I didn't even think about it. I was just like, 'Oh yeah, Tobey Maguire is playing Spider-Man.'” She said to The Independent.

Now in case, someone out there claims that there was not enough budget, the first Spiderman movie earned $821 million and the sequel $789 million. Despite being a success, (and honestly, most of the fans think she is the perfect MJ) she was not paid well. "But you know who was on the cover of the second Spider-Man poster? Spider-Man and ME," she declared fiercely.

She did not reveal how much her salary was, but according to the NY Post, Maguire was paid $4 million for portraying Peter Parker in the movie. He then negotiated a salary of $17.5 million for the 2004 sequel, “Spider-Man 2.”

In fact, this is not the first time that she declared she was underpaid. Back in 2017, she explained the situation to Variety. “Because I was young, I thought, ‘Oh wow, I’m getting paid a lot of money for the ‘Spider-Man’ movies,” she stated. “But definitely the men were getting paid more.”

This might sound a little bit bitter, but we have to concede that she is in right to speak out loud about the disparity. Nevertheless, now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is hinting that a multiverse could happen on the upcoming Spiderman: No Way Home and rumors about Tobey Maguire returning to portray his role, there are even tales about Kirsten Dunst returning to play Mary Jane.

Is Kirsten Dunst appearing in the upcoming Spiderman: No Way Home? She said no but let's remember that the MCU has always been secretive, however, the actress revealed to Variety that she will be up for the role if they ask her. "I would do it. Why not? That would be fun," she said. "I would never say no to something like that … I'd be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies."
