Kim Kardashian Discloses The Savage Critique Kanye West Gave Of Her First Outfit After Their Split
Following her split from Kanye West, Kim Kardashian admits she was left questioning her identity in so many ways and now she's trying to find her true self

Recently, it seems like Kim has been put to endure harsh criticism by her ex-husband Kanye West; at least regarding her fashion choices. This is one of the latest revelations in a recent episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, letting us know about one of the hardest parts of the pair’s split.
As the episode goes on, at one point we can see Kim talking to her older sister Kourtney Kardashian about the fashion-related pressures she feels sometimes. They are having a conversation centered on the look she chose for her night out late last year at the WSJ. Magazine 2021 Innovator Awards. One of her first outfits NOT chosen by Kanye West.
When she tried to explain her anxiety about not having the rapper’s incredible fashion sense in her corner after their public breakup, the SKIMS founder told Kourtney the following:

“I got to the point where I would ask him for advice for everything, down to what I wear. Even now I’m having panic attacks, like ‘What do I wear?’ I was like, ‘How do I wear something that hasn’t been pre-vetted (by Kanye) first?’ It was psychologically (hard).”
We know, and it has been widely documented how much of an impact Kanye previously had on Kim’s sense of style, right?! So much that the rapper even suggested to drop his musical career and focus on dressing her full-time. Which is why, when the split happened, this constituted the end of Kanye’s advice and wisdom on her side regarding fashion.
In case you don’t remember, Kim Kardashian opted to wear a dark brown leather dress to the aforementioned event, and she also threw in some matching gloves to accentuate her look. But, regardless of how lovely some people thought it was, apparently Kanye didn’t share the same opinion. As Kim revealed:
“He called me afterwards. He told me my career’s over and then he showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar.”
Undoubtedly, the opinion came out as harsh; especially when the ‘Hurricane’ rapper could have made a much more constructive comment about Kim’s fashion choice. Also, why take it to Marge? In the same episode, Kim admits she often relied on Kanye to be the visionary for her style sense during their relationship.
“I’ve never really been the visionary. Kanye would come in and be like, ‘Oh, you should do your hair like this. Oh, you should do your makeup like this.’ That’s his love language, clothes. And so I always just trusted him, but it’s not just about clothes.”

The sweet thing, or at least while their relationship was peaking, is that this was a connection they could enjoy as a couple. “That was the last thing we had, really, in common. I’m trying to figure out: Who am I in the fashion world? Who am I by myself? I was always the Kardashians with my sisters, and then I was Kimye, like, who is Kim K? That is the jump. How do I get there without Kanye? When I filed for divorce, it’s been 10 months now, and I’m finally just like stepping out, being like, ‘I can do this.’”
