Losing someone will always be a hard thing and probably, even harder is trying to explain to a child what happened in order for them to understand life. Precisely, that is what happened to American actor John Travolta, who lost his wife Kelly Preston back in July 2020.

In one of the most recent interviews, John Travolta was very candid talking about what has been happening in his life after the decease of Kelly Preston. While appearing on the latest episode of Kevin Hart's Peacock talk show series Hart to Heart, the Hollywood star revealed that he and his 10-year-old son Ben had to have a difficult conversation.

Travolta explained that one night during a walk around their neighborhood Ben opened his heart and told his dad that he was afraid of losing him too. "He said to me once, 'Because mom passed away, I'm afraid you're going to,'" Travolta said. I said, 'Well, it's a very different thing.' And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life," the Grease star continued. "I said, 'But you know, Ben … you always love the truth and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they're gonna go or when they're going to stay.' "

Despite the conversation was getting a little bit hard, John did not hesitate to continue by giving the kid more examples. "Your brother Jett left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who's to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can," he added. "So let's look at it like it's part of life. You don't know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can." Kelly Preston after a two-year battle with cancer,  and since then, John Travolta has paid tribute to her on his social media by sharing some sweet messages. For example, during Mother's day, he wrote "Dearest Kelly, you brought into my life three of the most wonderful children I have ever known. Thank you. We love and miss you."

And in April, he opened up about his grief. "I learned that mourning someone, dealing with grief is something very personal," he told Esquire Spain. "Mourning is individual and experiencing your own journey is what can lead you to heal. Your grief is different from another person's journey.” He continued."The most important thing you can do to help another person when they are in mourning is to allow them to live through it and not complicate it with yours," he shared. "Even though it's great to have company, sometimes it turns into you helping them instead of you working on your loss and grief."
