Not every day happens that a Dame reveals she adores someone else, but in this case Helen Mirren is getting candid and speaking about how Vin Diesel came into her life to stay adding that they really get along well, opposite to what most people might think. In fact, in a recent interview with People, Helen Mirren admitted she adores Vin Diesel, revealing how was the first time they met.
Helen Mirren has won several accolades for her numerous performances on the big screen, in theater, and on television, but one of her latest and more recurrent roles has gained the love of younger generations. Can you guess? The actress has portrayed Magdalene 'Queenie' Shaw in the Fast and Furious saga and according to her, this project was the first one she “begged” to be in because she really loves to drive.
"I always believed they have to come to you because if they don't, they don't really want you," she said, adding "I've never asked for a role, even if it was a role I really wanted to play."
Having said this, in the interview Helen Mirren reveals that she was at a party and there she met Vin Diesel, and long story short, she begged him to be part of the Fast and Furious Franchise.
"I think it was at Nobu, and there was Vin. I love driving cars — I'm probably not a terribly good driver, but I've always sort of fancied myself as a fast driver — and I thought it would be so cool to be in a film that was just about fast driving," Mirren said.
Having the opportunity, the actress went, introduced herself, and simply asked for it. "I saw Vin and introduced myself and shamelessly begged him to put me in one of his movies. He very sweetly did and I am eternally grateful to him," she said.
Unfortunately, in the first movie, she appeared she did not drive. "Of course, I was not driving! That was the problem, They put me in the back of an ambulance and I was imprisoned, totally not driving." Fortunately, in the ninth installment, she finally got her wish granted. "Finally in the last one I got to drive," she says, speaking of F9.
Helen Mirren then admits that since the beginning she started to admire and adore Vin Diesel adding that they really have a lot of chemistry together. Sounds a bit incredible since it is well known that Vin Diesel has a lot of feuds with co-stars of the franchise. “Whereas the most random people just have chemistry. And I adored Vin from the moment I met him." she declared.
