While everyone remembers her as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, Christina Ricci had her very first role at the age of nine in the movie Mermaids, back in 1990 alongside Cher and Winona Ryder.
At the time Christina Ricci was just nine years old and because of her tender age, we can imply that there were many topics that she did not understand at the time. Now, in a recent interview with Andy Cohen, the actress revealed that Johnny Depp helped her to understand the word “homophobic” after hearing it on the set of the Mermaids movie.
"There was something going on on set and someone was not being nice to someone else. And they were like, 'Oh, well, he might be homophobic,' " Ricci told Cohen during the interview. "And then I was like, 'Well, I don't understand what that is.'”
Ricci then recalled that she was in Winona Ryder's trailer and told her that she was not so sure what the other people were talking about. "And I was in Winona's trailer and she was like, 'I don't know how [to explain].' So she put me on the phone with Johnny, and Johnny explained it to me," the actress said with a smile.
At the time, Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp were in a relationship making them one of the hottest couples in the 90s.
Anyway, according to Christina Ricci, Johnny Depp did not go around the bush and explained what being gay means using simple words. "He was like, 'It's when a man wants to have sex with a man and when a woman wants to have sex with a woman.' And I was like, 'Ah, okay,' " she said.

Andy Cohen then added that he finds it cute to think that Winona Ryder did not find the words to explain to a 9-year-old what being gay was, joking that Cher was just some steps away from them.
"I love it that Winona Ryder had to put you on the phone with Johnny Depp to get that story that she couldn't spit it out in some way, or, I mean, you've got Cher in the next trailer," the host joked. "I know, we should've run right over there," Ricci added.
Throughout the years, Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp have starred in several movies together such as 1998's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and 1999's Sleepy Hollow. Then, in the 2000s The Man Who Cried marked Ricci's first sex scene on the screen which she did with Depp.
"I've known Johnny so long, he's protective of me as an older brother and it's weird to think of having sex with him." She said in an interview with ABC News. "So we know enough about each other to laugh at it. He said it was 'like we were rooting around together like pigs,' " she added.
