The world already knows that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are friendship goals. Both American actors have been friends since they were kids thanks to their moms, later went to school together, then separated but life brought them back together again. Since then, it is impossible to think about one of them without the other since we can call them brothers from another mother. So, it should not come as a surprise that since they are so close they have no problem when sharing a little kiss on screen since they have known each other for more than half of their lives, right?
Well, apparently yes, it was an issue but not with them. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ben Affleck revealed that after three decades working together in Hollywood, a kiss was almost a plausible thing on their latest movie 'The Latest Duel' directed by Scott Ridley.
In the original actual version of that scene, the way that ceremony actually took place was that you kissed everybody on the mouth," Affleck revealed. In the movie, Matt Damon plays Jean De Carrouges and Ben Affleck plays Count Pierre d'Alençon, so, their kiss was supposed to mean just a greeting and not a romantic thing.
"That would've been our first on-screen kiss," Matt Damon, who was also in the interview added. "It's going to have to wait." In fact, according to Matt, both characters really loathe each other so it would have been an interesting thing to see.
"Yeah the two characters really hate each other and that was really fun," Damon said. "In fact, the scene where I kneel before him, Ben just improvised this thing where I started to say my line and he just interrupted me and goes, 'Closer.' And I have to kind of get up and kneel again in front of him. And that was just — he just did that and just kind of blurted that out, and it wasn't in the script."
Then he joked that because Ben Affleck is no longer just an actor but also a director, that's the way he has to kneel in front of him. "That's actually how I have to get in his house," he said.
This is quite interesting news since just a couple of months Matt Damon received quite the backlash for revealing that he used to use a homophobic slur but his young daughter reprimanded him and urged the actor to never use it again. "The word that my daughter calls the 'f-slur for a homosexual was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application. I made a joke, months ago, and got a treatise from my daughter. She left the table. I said, 'Come on, that's a joke! I say it in the movie Stuck on You!'" he said.
He later released a statement clarifying his comments and saying that his comments were taken out of context and that he really admires his daughter for being 'articulate' but also expressed his feelings for the LGBTQ Community.
