The latest Zack Snyder film is a zombie extravaganza, and it has an array of very diverse characters. In fact, on of the actors in charge of one of the most important characters of the film, is Ana de la Reguera, who recently went on to discuss how refreshing she felt working in a movie with such a diverse cast.
The colorful roster of the movie not only includes mercenary soldiers (one of them played by the one and only Dave Bautista), but a series of actors of various origins have nurtured the film with diversity, nonetheless. Several other actors in the film that complete the cast are Omari Hardwick, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada and Raúl Castillo.
Actress Ana de la Reguera plays the leading lady, who is set to fight her way into a decimated Las Vegas run by the living dead, meanwhile hoping to rob a casino bank, that hopefully will set her up for life. Of course, whether she still has one after the heist is yet to be seen. This is certainly an adventure for Ana de la Reguera, who is participating in this big-budget film by no less than Director En Vogue, Zack Snyder.
The mexican actress discussed with TooFab how was the adventure of working in such a big movie. According to Ana, there was an exact time when she realized this movie was big. She says they have been filming in Albuquerque for about 10 days; there, they were shooting all the “talking” scenes, very calm. Until that was a wrap and they had to move to “Las Vegas Strip”. When she got to the Las Vegas set (built in New Mexico), she knew what she was getting at.
Undoubtedly, one of the most distinctive elements of this production was the diverse cast. Ana has mentioned how refreshing that was for her because she didn't feel like “the only one who had an accent or the only outsider.” She also feels that the industry is changing, and more and more stories within the film and entertainment industry are set to represent the vast diversity that we experience in reality.
“We are telling a story that happens in Vegas because everyone's from everywhere. Like no one is from Vegas. Everyone's there because they're running away from something or trying to be lucky or gonna have a good shot in that city that offers a lot of jobs,” says the actress, who also thinks it's very relatable since the U.S. practically lives under the same way of life.
Ana went on to discuss her experience in a movie with explosions, action, and guns. This is not the first time De la Reguera works with a character that deals with the use of guns. However, for her, every time is different. “First of all, I forget about it after a day and then every weapon is different. I've never had such a big rifle, I've worked in different projects where I used guns, but not as much as this one. So I had no idea what to do. The guys who were training us – I probably drove them crazy,” said the acclaimed mexican actress.
