Divorces and separations are always messy, whether you want it or not. Now, involving custody of kids and added to the mix that not only one but the two are superstars certainly leads to more drama than intended or needed.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. And while the now-former couple filed for divorce, five years later they are still having issues with this. In 2017 they suspended the process because apparently, they were working on getting back but that did not work either. “We will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it,” said Angelina.
It was until 2019 that Angelina Jolie gave access to Brad Pitt to see the kids and it was reported that the former couple was legally single but their divorce settlement had not been finalized. While everything appeared to be smooth, something happened in 2020 that made Angelina mad: His speech for winning the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood.

When he accepted the award he said that the role was quite hard since he was a “Guy who gets high, takes his shirt off, doesn’t get along with his wife" while the entire room laughed at the joke, and even Jennifer Aniston graciously smiled, a source close to Angelina revealed that the 'Salt' actress was not happy with it. “It feels hugely disrespectful to her to make a joke out of their marriage problems in front of a room full of their peers. She’d never do that to him.“Anyway, more legal battles came along and Angelina claimed that Brad was not supporting the kids financially but his lawyer gave proof of the contrary.
This year, some months ago, to Angelina's dismay, Brad Pitt was granted joint custody following hours of testimony from child services staffers, therapists, and other professionals, all of whom had spoken to the Jolie-Pitt children. However, it was revealed recently that “three of the children have asked to testify,” Jolie’s lawyers said in court documents filed in December 2020 and obtained by Us Weekly The documents did not state which of the children wanted to testify against his dad, but it noted that the children whose custody is at issue are old enough to understand what is going on.
“The trial is necessarily going to impact them emotionally,” the lawyers added. “To make any of the children endure what may be a futile and void proceeding is beyond unjustified. It is cruel.” Maddox, who is 19 and no longer a minor, did testify against his father in March. “It wasn’t very flattering toward Brad,” a source told Us of the teen’s testimony. “He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support.”
