It has been years since we first heard about Angelina Jolie and her process to divorce from Brad Pitt. Exactly, in 2016 the actress filed for divorce after six kids and eleven years together but not without people's scrutiny and commenting on how this was Brad Pitt's karma after he divorced Jennifer Aniston so he could start a relationship with Angelina.
Anyway, they are still battling legally but the actress has no repair in talking openly about her ex and how not only herself but her acting career suffered from this. In one of the most recent interviews for Entertainment Weekly, where she was promoting her latest movie 'Those Who Wish Me Dead' (she portrays a fire-fighter), Angelina Jolie was asked about how her personal life and career converged and the actress revealed that her path diverged from what she actually wanted. "I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that's not made it possible for me to direct for a few years." The reason? Her divorce has taken a toll on her life and family.
And yes, we can remember the actress from her iconic roles in films like 'Salt,' 'Maleficent,' 'The Tourist,' Tomb Raider,' or even the now infamous 'Mr. And Mrs. Smith' where she met her now ex-husband, but what you probably did not know was that she has under her sleeve some acclaimed films like 'By the Sea,' 'A Place in Time,' and 'In the Land of Blood and Honey.'
About her reasons as to why she stopped directing and instead decided to focus again on acting (she is set to appear in the upcoming Marvel film 'Eternals), she revealed the main reason. "I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That's really the truth of it."
However, it seems Angelina Jolie has another reason as to why she does not have time to pursue her dreams but in this case is for a good cause...or several since it is known that the actress supports nearly thirty charities and foundations (if not more) including the Afghanistan Relief Organization, Cancer Schmancer Movement, Cinema For Peace and The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The Lara Croft star declared that she sees all people as equals, “I see the abuse and suffering and I cannot stand by. Around the world, people are fleeing gas attacks, rape, female genital mutilation, beatings, persecution, murder. They do not flee to improve their lives. They flee because they cannot survive otherwise. What I really want is to see an end to what forces people out of their homelands. I want to see prevention when we can, protection when needed, and accountability when crimes are committed.”
