The Met Gala is one of the most awaited events within the fashion industry; only the hottest celebs have the privilege of receiving an invitation. However, there have been some celebrities who have publicly criticized the event, two of which have already been banned from the Met Gala. Find out who these famous are.

1. Amy Schumer

In an interview with Howard Stern, the actress went on to open about her experience at the Met Gala, saying that “it's people doing an impression of having a conversation... I don't like the farce.” She also told Stern, “We're dressed up like a bunch of f-king a-holes.” In the end, Amy Schumer made it clear that she wasn't feeling it that night. “I have no interest in fashion... I don't care.” In fact, she had the opportunity to meet Beyoncé at the Gala, who asked her “Is this your first Met Gala?,” while the actress was thinking “it's my last”.

The actor and singer opened up about how they felt at her appearance at the red carpet of the Met Gala, during an interview with Billboard. “I had a terrible experience. This one celebrity was a complete bitch and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey. I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink.” Demi texted their manager, and arrived to a 10 pm AA meeting, with some evidence of the Met Gala still lingering. “I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on – millions of dollars in diamonds on in a AA meeting. And I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than people at the Met Gala – fake and sucking the fashion industry's dick.”

The actress went on to attend the 2010 Met Gala, but hasn't been back since. She addressed the whole experience with David Letterman, calling the soirée “such a jerk parade.” Fey also added that “every jerk from every walk of life is there, wearing some stupid thing... it's just everybody, if you had million arms, it's all the people you would punch in the whole world.”

4. Zayn Malik

The former One Direction member admitted that his experiences was not as pleasant; he even mentioned how he preferred to stay at home than attend the Gala. “I'd rather be sitting at my house, doing something productive.” Zayn also mentioned he would prefer not to dress up in expensive clothes and get photographed to “do the self-indulgent, 'look at me I'm amazing on the red carpet.”

5. Lena Dunham

During a conversation she had with Amy Schumer, the actress opened up about the time when she attended the 2016 Gala, saying that the only thing she ever wanted to do at the time, was to run away. She recalled that Schumer and herself were sitting across from each other, “and it was like a crazy countdown to when we could escape.”

6. Gwyneth Paltrow

The 'Emma' actress hasn't had a good experience so far at the Gala. However, she has attended back the event on several occasions. During an interview on radio, the actress claimed that the event “sucked.” She even talked about how it seems so glamorous and like the best thing in the world but you get there “and it's so hot and it's so crowded and everyone's pushing you,” so she decided to take a break from attending the Gala. A short break, that is, since she went back eventually.

The television personality and author enjoyed attending the Met Galas until 2006, the year his invitations got rescinded indefinitely. Gunn was banned from the event, after he publicly joked about seeing Anna Wintour getting carried down the stairs at a fashion show by two sizable bodyguards. Gunn went on to tell E!'s “I was asked what is the most unforgettable thing I've ever seen in fashion, and I said it's easy, it was watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards from a fashion show.” After disclosing this fashion moment, Vogue asked him to retract his statement, but he refused, thus leading to having him shunned from the Met Gala.
