Where is she from?
Olivia Rodrigo was born in the US and grew up in California. Her mother is American and of Irish and German descent and her father is Filipino-American. In an interview, the American actress revealed her family tree history “My great-grandfather immigrated here from the Philippines when he was just a teenager. He’s my grandma’s dad, and my grandpa is also Filipino as well. My dad grew up in a house where they were always making Filipino food, his grandpa always spoke Tagalog. All of those traditions have trickled down to our generation. Every Thanksgiving we have lumpia, and things like that.” She revealed that she hopes to one day visit the Philippines stating, “I have never been to the Philippines, but I really, really want to. We still have extended family there, but I’ve never met them. That’s on my bucket list, definitely.”
She is a huge Swiftie
Actually, Olivia Rodrigo claims she is the #1 fan of Taylor Swift and everything was revealed when Tylor commented on one of her snaps on Instagram “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud” Rodrigo “just about died.” The singer shared, “I was dead asleep and my friend called me on the phone and I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s 6 a.m. Can I call you back in two hours?’ And he’s like, ‘No. Absolutely not. Check your Instagram right now.’ And in the grogginess of my sleep, I checked my phone and she commented on my photo and I just about died … just about died. Literally, I’ve looked up to her as long as I can remember, so it was so sweet of her to do that.” Obviously she had to show off their interaction and even shared a picture of it with the caption “what is breathing.”.
However, this is not the first time Olivia declared her love for the 'Look What you made me Do' singer. In April 2010, Rodrigo did a cover of Tylor's song 'Cruel Intentions' for MTV’s Alone Together Jam Session. What happened next? Taylor praised her “THE TALENT! Love This!!! Thanks for this beautiful performance @olivia.rodrigo @mtv.” Olivia then revealed that she screamed her head off and posted a picture of herself laying on the floor captioning “TAYLOR SWIFT IS THE REASON I WRITE SONGS AND SHE POSTED ME ON HER STORY AND TOLD ME I WAS TALENTED??? WHEN IS ASHTON KUTCHER GONNA JUMP OUT OF A BUSH WITH A CAMERA CREW!!!!???!??! I AM GONNA FRAME THIS SCREENSHOT AND HANG IT ABOVE MY FIRSTBORN’S CRIB.” Sorry people, she is, indeed, the biggest Swiftie.
She’s the star of Disney+'s ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’
Maybe, and just maybe, you have not heard about Olivia Rodrigo before (Seriously?) Well, let us tell you that she made her debut on Disney Channel with the sitcom“Bizaardvark,” and after that, she scored the protagonist role of Nini Salazar-Roberts in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” In the spinoff series (which is a metaverse), a bunch of teens plan to stage a production of 'High School Musical', and her character, Nini is the one who gets the part of Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgen's character)
She is not only an actress
Olivia Rodrigo is also a songwriter. Do you remember the most famous song of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, 'All I Want'? Well, she was the one to create it. The ballad has already amassed more than 194 million streams on Spotify and the song is about Nini's relationship with two of her exes. “Gen Z-ers have a particular insight on the world that sometimes adults don’t have,” Rodrigo told The Times last year of her approach to songwriting. “If you have a bunch of old white guys in a room trying to write a song for a teenage girl, their experience is never going to be the same as a teenage girl living in 2020.”
Fans think Olivia Rodrigo's song 'Driver's License' has to do with a Love Triangle
As angsty as it sounds, this story is so, so long. In 2020 it was rumored that Olivia Rodrigo was dating her co-star Joshua Basset. However, nothing was officially confirmed. Let's just mention here that Taylor Swift loves to hide not so hidden-hints on her songs so probably this is what Olivia was doing when she wrote 'Driver's License'. In it, Olivia addressed a blond and older girl “And you’re probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt / She’s so much older than me / She’s everything I’m insecure about,” Here it is where Sabrina Carpenter enters the scene since it was rumored that Basset decided to dismiss her love for Rodrigo and focused on Carpenter.
This did not stop here. Carpenter, who is a singer too, released a song called 'Skin' and, honestly, how could you say it was not a comeback? “Maybe then we could pretend there’s no gravity in the words we write / Maybe you didn’t mean it, maybe ‘blond’ was the only rhyme,” and then later, “You can try to get under my, under my, under my skin / While he’s on mine.” And guess what? The drama did not end here. Basset released a song called 'Lie Lie Lie' “So you’re telling them it’s all my fault / You’re the victim this time.” Taylor Swift must be proud.
